Week 23: March 22nd-24th

➽Activity of the Day: Reading
I was working with one of my typical girls today. She was reading much more fluently. I'm proud of her because I can tell she's been practicing during break. She did better than last week! The next step is making inferences and recalling facts. While she can read through sentences, if I ask her questions about what happened in the story, she doesn't remember. If I ask her to make logical inferences about what will happen next, she doesn't want to share. I'm not sure if she won't make inferences because she's afraid of embarrassing herself to me. I need to develop a strategy to bring her to the next step in this reading journey.

➽Activity of the Day: Reading with other children
I read with different kids today because Mrs. Carlson wanted to give mine a break- since they've been working so hard! She told me she is incredibly proud of how far they've come. I couldn't stop grinning! They really have been putting in the time. Since each day may come with a tantrum or talking back, hearing how much progress they made presented me with a new perspective on all they've accomplished. I was reminded that they are kids. Sass is bound to happen. What I need to do is take control when they try to test me to get them back on track. We have two more months. I want to see how far they can go!

You have made a difference there! Great work!!!
